Summer in the City
Wonderful, hot summer time!
Unfortunately, not everyone can go on holiday. But so what! While others are fighting holiday traffic to go south, you are enjoying the ambience of your own city. Everything is more relaxed, offices are not as busy, parking lots, streets, and cafés are less crowded, and a Mediterranean flair takes over.
When it gets hot outside…
…you start the day with a tepid shower. That combined with a fresh hydrogel will protect you from excess perspiration. Enjoy the summer mood without guilt and shift into a lower gear at the office. If everybody is on holiday, the telephones will be ringing less. Maybe you can even use up some of your comp time – or suggest a day of working from home. Working on your balcony is bound to be more relaxing!
Great climate control!
When temperatures soar, wear loose-fitting, light-weight clothing made of cotton or linen. To maintain a pleasant indoor climate, open the windows and air out the office in the morning and at the end of the day. During the day, keep the heat out by keeping the windows closed. You will feel more rested if you drink plenty of fluids and eat light meals. Mineral water, fruit juice spritzers, unsweetened herbal or fruit teas are the best thirst quenchers. A low-fat diet containing plenty of water is easier on the body – and allows you to indulge in a large, refreshing helping of ice cream after work.
Work first and then…
Speaking of after-hours: Before you hit the town, freshen up with an arm bath. Immerse your arms for just 30 seconds in 12 to 18 degrees C cool water. Body powder or refreshing body mists have a cooling effect on the skin and get you ready for action. Beer garden, an outside table at your favourite Italian restaurant, outdoor cinema or a dip in a lake or pool at night: Summer in the city offers numerous activities – just take your pick.
