Summer Gadgets
One thing is for sure: Business suits, shirts and tightly tied ties are not ideal for beating the summer heat. Those who are lucky to work in air-conditioned offices only have to endure beads of sweat on their foreheads on the way home. To compensate, manly charm needs an outfit that is – quite literally – cool.
Light-proof
Solar panels are portable shade. These light triangular panels can be stored compactly and are easy to set up between branches, trees or tent stakes using cords. Fashionable sunglasses are obligatory for protecting your eyes and relaxing in the sun. This year’s style of sunglasses with large masculine lenses that are slightly square harkens back to the 80s.
If the sun is truly sizzling, you can make a virtue out of necessity with a solar cell cover for your beach backpack. A few hours in the sun is sufficient to charge your mobile phone, mp3 player or an LED mini lantern with some fresh juice. With the latter, after the sun has set, the long summer evening gently fades away.
Water-resistant
Diving into cold water promises greater relief than shade. A water-proof digital camera is a good way to preserve spontaneous moments for eternity. The usual models have much to offer both in and out of water. And you will have twice as much fun at the pool looking at photos right after taking them. Or what about the thrill of capturing that perfect wave when surfing. Of course, every surfer should also have a surfer’s watch – one that’s not only water-proof but also displays the tides as well as the time. But your sports time shouldn’t be measured.
Cool freshness
Be both environmentally conscious and hip and liven up your summer picnic with music from your wind-up radio. Thanks to a small handcrank, the wind-up radio is powered solely by muscles. For longer hikes with children, walkie-talkies are the perfect companion. On some models you can also connect a GPS receiver in order to make orientation easier during an adventure hike, for example. When you break out in a sweat during all this activity, we recommend a very low-tech solution: the good old hammock.
