Night-time Wellness
While others go on holiday, why not create a bit of a holiday atmosphere at home before going to bed. Especially if the heat is stagnant and sweltering.
Kick off freshness with a shower
How better to pamper your sweaty body after a hot day than with a shower? Even though it sounds tempting: Take a tepid, not a cold shower, no matter how hot it is outside. Otherwise you will rev up your cardiovascular system right before bedtime. A refreshing trick: Keep your shower gel in the refrigerator and then pamper your skin with cooling suds. After your shower, don’t towel off completely, just pat your body, letting the moisture evaporate to keep your skin cool.
Put up your feet and chill
Now take care of your legs and feet, since walking feels like an especially heavy burden on hot days. A foot bath in icy water or some cloth-covered ice packs from the freezer will provide cooling relief.
Refreshing fragrance
Before you sink down into your pillows, immerse your bedroom in aromatic freshness – for example with fragrance reeds. You can control the intensity by the number of reeds you use. Try cool mint or green tea. Cut up citrus fruit spiked with cloves is another fragrant treat.
Sleep well!
For summertime sleeping, choose bedding made of cotton or linen. The latter is not only cooling but it also has a wicking effect. When outside temperatures climb, use just a sheet to cover up – preferably one made of linen or cotton. A wet towel hung in front of your open bedroom window will provide a bit of relief from the heat. Finish the summer day with a little meditation: Close your eyes; breathe deep into your belly and think of the cool, clear colour blue. This will calm your soul and might even lower your body temperature. We wish you a good night!
