Autumn Bliss

One minute the last warm sun rays are caressing us – next thing you know, autumn is here. Awesome! Although we might enjoy the warm months of the year the most, autumn is the perfect time to open our homes to a feel-good mood.

Happiness inside and out
Even though you might eye the months ahead with scepticism, thinking of early darkness and autumn chills – there should be no room for gloom. Find inner happiness while opening your eyes to the beauty autumn brings with it.
We already know this: It is the small, everyday things that we should appreciate. Allow yourself some time to take a break from your daily routine. Positive experiences create happiness! Explore nature, which is especially beautiful in autumn. Round up your friends or family and take in the sights of beautiful shaded forests and meadows. Protect yourself against the cold and dampness; pack hot beverages and a picnic, and enjoy the serene view from a deer stand. With a little luck you will spot deer in the sparsely wooded forest.

Autumn is time for easy pickings
Or go out and gather whatever Mother Nature has to yield. Chestnuts, beech nuts, wild plums, barberries or colourful leaves will bring nature into your home, creating an inspiring atmosphere. Quinces and rosehips are among the last fruits of autumn – and they are also among the best – ideal for some feel-good jam. Or fill large canning jars with red fruit and berries and adorn your home with a colourful sprinkling of nature. Dried decorative quinces, spread out on plates, will fill the air with a pleasant, fruity scent.

Swing a paintbrush
Why don’t you explore your artistic potential? Take a small watercolour set to the edge of the woods or the park. The low autumn sun creates an abundance of light impressions. Watercolours, applied generously over pencil sketches, do not take long to finish, and their translucent colours will capture the autumn light perfectly. A few colourful dabs for foreground and shadows – and voilà, even novices will have an attractive, serene piece of art, created in a happy moment close to nature.
