Hairy Types

You’re probably familiar with this. While your better half might spend three hours at the hair salon for a cut, head massage, shampoo, colour and blow-dry, you are relieved to get a new haircut over within 15 minutes. But there is no reason why hair care for men should be less intensive than for women. Healthy hair and the right cut are not only attractive; they also make a man feel better about himself!

Reality check
Thin hair cannot be made into a cool surfer look with long locks. And he who carefully styles his hair in the morning might have a rude awakening when riding in the wind on his bike. No hair despair, though: Once you know your hair type, you can quickly find out what suits you.

Hair care for your type
Fine hair requires a strengthening shampoo for more volume. A volumising gel will do for hair what well-trained biceps do for arms – pump them up. If your hair is prone to dandruff and oiliness, a special shampoo to restore the natural balance of the scalp might be in order. A light massage with your fingertips or a soft brush will increase circulation and rejuvenate your scalp. Alternating between warm and cold showers is also invigorating, and not just for your scalp.

Cut and style
A seriously receding hairline calls for courage. A buzz cut or a shaved head is sexier and more stylish than a comb-over. New shampoos and tonics can maintain a full head of hair longer by stimulating the hair follicles, promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss. Men who have a lot of hair can sport an all-natural or wet look in a medium-length haircut. For both styles regular care and trims are key. One thing is sure: Worn with confidence, any hair can be stylish.
